Best practice in the natural environment
Respect herds and livestock.
In natural areas, you may find herds and livestock grazing. Try not to make annoying noises, leave the electric padlocks locked so that they do not get lost and keep your pets on a lead so as not to interfere with their activity.
Problems it can cause
Walking dogs off-leash is one of the major issues when visiting areas with livestock. Additionally, some animals, like sheep, are easily frightened by the presence of dogs, and their flight can lead to the death of some animals and other accidents.
Animals can react abruptly to certain human behaviours, such as sudden approaches, attempts to scare them, or touching them, leading to accidents and personal injuries.
Best practices
In many natural spaces, you will encounter herds during your visit. Enjoy the mountain while respecting the activities that take place there:
- Keep dogs on a leash and avoid approaching animals, both livestock and the dogs that may accompany them.
- Do not touch the animals or their offspring; the mothers are likely nearby, watching over them.
- Do not feed the livestock.
- Ignore working dogs, whether guarding or herding dogs. Keep your distance, do not approach them and continue on your way calmly.
- Avoid carrying bags in your hands; animals are often accustomed to farmers carrying salt and may react with excessive interest.
