Best practice in the natural environment
Nature is not a circuit
Motorised vehicles for mountain travel are designed to overcome all kinds of obstacles. They are very useful for quickly accessing difficult areas. However, it is crucial to use them only on designated trails and at a moderate speed.
Problems it can cause
The tracks left behind by motorised vehicles can be difficult to recover, primarily because of the great erosion they cause. They displace rocks, flatten vegetation and create new ruts. Additionally, the noise they generate disrupts the tranquil and silent atmosphere of the mountains and can even frighten wildlife at a distance.
Best practices
Nature is not a race track, and that is why we must follow a series of Best Practices to minimise the impact of motorised vehicles on the environment:
- Respect the current traffic laws, even on mountain roads.
- Adhere to signs, barriers and indications you find on the trails and paths.
- Use forest roads where vehicle traffic is permitted. Remember that it is forbidden to drive on logging trails or off-road. This includes on narrow paths.
- Some areas may have seasonal road closures due to the presence of threatened fauna. In this case, respect the closures and do not enter the area.
- Reduce the number of vehicles accessing nature.
