Serres de Milany-Santa Magdalena and Puigsacalm-Bellmunt
The Milany-Santa Magdalena and Puigsacalm-Bellmunt mountain ranges constitute the most remarkable and representative natural area of the Catalan Transversal Range, together with the Collsacabra. Together with the headwaters of the Llierca and the Muga, it is the most important of the Eastern Pre-Pyrenees of the east.
Geologically, the tectonic and geomorphological aspects of the Bellmunt anticline and the Vidrà syncline should be noted.
It is worth noting the essentially humid character of this territory, which allows the development of the deciduous forests typical of Central European territories.
The flora (mycological, bryological and lichenological), together with the sample of Central European forest fauna and some species of invertebrates, mean this space is of great interest.
A dedicated team with environmental informants will ensure responsible and orderly access to the protected natural areas and the gorges and river areas most often frequented during the summer. In this way, we aim to guarantee the right both to recreation and the protection of the environment.

Impacts
In this natural space, the impacts are numerous and diverse. Over-visiting is evident in some points such as Can Turó Park (Vall d’en Bas), the summit of Puigsacalm (Vall d’en Bas) and the Bellmunt sanctuary (Sant Pere Torelló); and there are some water discharges of livestock origin into the Ges hydrographic network.
Other problems are the circulation of motorbikes off the slopes (head of the Fornés river, the sunny slope of the Puigsacalm, the Grevolosa beech forest, the Salt del Roure waterfall), the overexploitation of forests on terrain with a steep slope (Bac dels Llancers) and the possible damage caused by newly-feral domestic cats (especially hybridisation with feral cats).
Finally, we must not forget the strong impact caused by the construction of the Bracons tunnel.

Globally, given the structural and dynamic characteristics of current natural systems, these systems do not present significant specific problems. However, there are some elements of fauna and flora that must be taken into account due to their vulnerability and rarity.
