Can Comas beach

Can Comas beach is in the middle of the Bay of Roses. It has remained absolutely unspoilt because it is in Aiguamolls de l’Empordà Natural Park. Five kilometres from Castelló d’Empúries, it is bounded by the mouths of the rivers Muga, on the left, and Fluvià, on the right. There are no buildings on the four kilometres of beach except for two campsites at each end where most of the beachgoers are based. The rest of the large sandy area is usually not very crowded.

In the Aiguamolls de l’Empordà Natural Park, due to nesting birds, Can Comas beach and part of Route 3 are closed from 1 April to 30 June, both inclusive. L’Aguait de la Massona is closed from 1 April and until an undetermined date in July, according to the evolution of the chicks of protected species. On the beaches of the Park, the markings with poles and ropes are maintained to protect the dune area and on any stretch of beach you can also find temporary closures protecting the nests of the sandpiper. Please check the status of each space at the Cortalet Information Centre and respect the directions on the posters.
